Myopic (nearsighted) people therefore have a MINUS (-) correction. Since they have presbyopia (PLUS) also, they are labeled MINUS PLUS. Hyperopic (farsighted) people therefore have a PLUS (+) correction. Since they have presybopia (PLUS) also, they are labeled PLUS PLUS. Hyperopic Presbyopic individuals never had to wear glasses for distance and near vision tasks up until the age of 40 when near vision tasks became difficult.

Our machine, VISX Star S4 IR is able to correct PLUS PLUS. This is laser correction for both eyes for binocular clear vision for distance and binocular clear vision for near.

If you are MINUS PLUS, then you are not a candidate for HYPEROPIC PRESBYOPIC correction. We can offer you two other services.

1. FULL DISTANCE CORRECTION - with the use of reading glasses for near vision work post surgery
2. MONOVISION CORRECTION or BLENDED VISION - dominant eye fully corrected for distance, non-dominant eye blended with some correction for near vision activities. Spectacle freedom is achieved for most activities. The use of prescription eye glasses may be necessary for prolonged near vision work.
