Optimizing glaucoma eye drop application
- Wash your hands.
- Shake the bottle if needed.
- Sit with your head tilted back or lie down.
- Unscrew the medication cap carefully so that the tip does not come into contact with anything.
- Pull down your lower lid.
- Look up at the tip of the bottle (don't worry if it looks blurred). It may help if you close your other eye.
- Take care not to touch the tip of the bottle to your eyelashes, eyelids, or anything else.
- Squeeze the bottle gently so that only one drop comes out.
- Make sure that you feel the drop enter your eye and that it did not land on your eyelid or cheek.
- Close your eye/s and press on the inner corners of your eyes (where the tear ducts are located) for 5 minutes. This is very important, do not skip this step.
