EYE REPUBLIC Tips - Eye Occluder, Near Vision Chart

OCCLUDER

*Testing distance vision for the right eye*

  1. Cover your left eye with the occluder.
  2. View distant objects with your right eye.
  3. While your left eye is covered, peek through the pinholes with your right eye.
  4. If vision is better, then you may need glasses for that eye.
  5. If vision is poor, with and/or without the pinhole, then there may be reasons other than an error of refraction contributing to the blurring of vision.
  6. Repeat the procedure for the other eye.

POCKET NEAR VISION CHART

  1. Hold the chart in good light 14 inches away from your eyes.
  2. Check vision for each eye separately with and without glasses.
  3. Use the occluder to check individual eyes.
  4. Presbyopic (above 40yo) individuals should read thru the bifocal segment.
  5. For myopic (nearsighted) individuals, testing should be done with glasses only.

Note: If vision for near is ok, one should be able to read the paragraph in No.1 without difficulty at 14 inches. If you have to move the chart away from you to be able to read clearly, then you require reading glasses. If you currently use reading glasses, then you need to upgrade your lenses.

Share this card and occluder with your family and friends. If you need glasses, please call up our clinic to set up an appointment.
