Resource Speaker - Bitemporal Hemianopia - Dr Dorotheo

It's Complicated

Dr. Dorotheo was a resource person at the 62nd Interhospital Grand Rounds of the Philippine Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism held at the Dusit Hotel, Makati City on 27 May 2010.  Entitled "It's
Complicated", the case presented was that of a 16-year-old female with gigantism due to a pituitary tumor secreting excessive growth hormone and prolactin.  She also presented with bitemporal hemianopia due to compression of the optic chiasm by the large pituitary tumor.

The patient had undergone medical treatment as well as transnasal transsphenoidal surgery, and discussion revolved around continuing care for this patient, including regular neuro-ophthalmologic follow-up to monitor her vision and visual fields.
