Dr Rainier Covar is an ophthalmologist whose practice includes general ophthalmology (which includes cataract surgery) with subspecialty work in glaucoma and low vision rehabilitation.

Dr. Covar obtained his medical degree at the University of the Philippines Manila. He trained in ophthalmology at the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital where he became the Chief Resident of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He took post-residency training in Glaucoma at the Philippine General Hospital, fellowship in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and fellowship in Anterior Segment and Glaucoma at the Western Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia. He obtained his Master of Science degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney in Australia.

Dr. Covar is affiliated with various hospitals and eye centers in Metro Manila. He is a member of the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology and the Philippine Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has delivered numerous scientific lectures and presentations at specialty society meetings and other events locally and internationally.
